John G. Johnson Construction Ground Breaking Ceremony
April 29, 2014
SHAKER HEIGHTS, OHIO – John G. Johnson Construction Company is proud to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony at Plymouth Church of Shaker Heights for the church's new entrance and elevator addition as designed by Arkinetics, Inc. of Lorain, Ohio.
With Plymouth Church's vintage elevator breaking down on Christmas Eve of 2012 and beyond reasonable repairs, Plymouth Church partnered with John G. Johnson Construction to provide preconstruction and construction services for their new elevator and entrance addition.
The new addition brings many new challenges the construction process since church parishioners will now have all full access to all floors and basement areas of the entire church. The new 3-story addition bridges between two separate buildings with different floor and ceiling heights. “Building the addition to meet the different floor levels on both sides will be challenging since footer and final floor heights were unable to be determined by the Preconstruction and Design Teams until demolition was completed on both sides of the new addition at each of the floors. It's going to take some investigation and teamwork to figure it out, but we're up for the challenge” stated JGJ's Senior Project Manager, Ian Schechterman.
JGJ's Project Team is accustomed to challenging phased projects like this and provides collaborative, problem solving, and dedicated methods to create quality projects for their customers.
