Congrats to the MC2 STEM Students
June 27, 2018
As part of our education program at MC2 STEM High School and role as Design-Builder for the Harbor Verandas Apartments and Mixed-Use project, JGJ has led students during their capstone project featuring a budget and design challenge to plan a new conceptual park for future development phases of North Coast Harbor. From scaling, cost estimating, to master planning, scope of work narratives and preparing for an interview, students learned real world skills in the construction, design and development industries.
Overall, three top student groups were selected to present their final designs, budgets and vision for the new park to the Harbor Verandas OAC Team including, Cumberland Development, Dimit Architects and John G. Johnson Construction.
Congratulations to Group 1 on winning the overall park challenge! From scaling accuracy, design practicality and usefulness, to budget accuracy, clear scope of work narrative and quality presentation, Group 1 delivered a great vision of what the future park could hold for all ages to enjoy in Downtown Cleveland. Some of the creative design ideas included an area for food trucks to park, a basketball court for the youth and dog park area.
We wish the best of luck to the Freshmen students at MC2 STEM who participated in this education program! We hope you continue to stay curious learning about science, technology, engineering, math, development, construction and design and hope to see you on a construction job site in the future! Have a great summer!
